Hawkesbury River

Estuarine Vegetation and Habitats

The data and image on this page has been built from Estuarine Vegetation Mapping undertaken by NSW Fisheries (a large proportion of it mapped as a component of the the Department of Planning's NSW Comprehensive Coastal Assessment Project 2006).

The following image and table shows the vegetation type, size, makeup and location of the major Estuarine Vegetation groups for this estuary.

The map also shows measured Mangrove Limits, indicated by filled circles. The base map of the estuaries in some cases do not show all the minor tributaries of the system. In these cases some of the measured Tidal or Mangrove Limits do not appear to be on a waterway.
