Media Release - Department of Water and Energy Date: 10 April 2008 BLUE GREEN ALGAE ALERTS REMOVED AT MENINDEE Information received today by the NSW Department of Water and Energy indicates that the concentrations of blue green algae present at Menindee and in the Darling River below Menindee have decreased substantially.
As a result, the Sunraysia Regional Algal Coordinating Committee has lifted the red alert and precautionary red alerts placed on the Menindee town weir pool and in the lower Darling from Menindee to Wentworth in March, and replace it with a green alert.
Under a green alert the water is safe for all recreational and stock water uses.
