COOPERS CREEK WATER SHARING PLAN TO BE AMENDED

The NSW Department of Water Energy today announced that amendments to the Coopers Creek Water Sharing Plan are being considered and that community input is being sought.

“The NSW Government is consulting with communities within the Coopers Creek Water Sharing Plan area to ensure that this plan is satisfactory for all concerned,” Mr David Miller, Project Manager said.

The proposed amendments to the Water Sharing Plan are in line with the agreement reached on the ’cease to pump’ rule in the Plan following negotiations between the Department, the Water Users’ Group and other State agencies.

A full copy of the proposed amendments can be viewed on the Department of Water and Energy’s website at www.dwe.nsw.gov.au.

“Whilst the Water Management Act 2000 does not require public exhibition of plan amendments, it is vital that the community have a say in their water sharing plan,” Mr Miller said.

“I urge people to make a submission into these proposed amendments to ensure that their concerns are addressed in the amended plan.

The Department of Water and Energy will write to each licence holder in the Coopers Creek Water Sharing Plan area, outlining the proposed amendments and giving them the opportunity to make comment.

For more information regarding the proposed amendments to the Coopers Creek water sharing plan, contact Mr David Miller from the Department of Water and Energy on ph 6561 4973.
