Eraring Energy

Eraring Energy is a statutory State owned corporation operating under the Energy Services Corporations Act (1995) and the State Owned Corporations Act (1989). Eraring Energy was formed in August 2000 to administer the electricity generation activities of the corporation formerly known as Pacific Power. Eraring Energy operates two pumping/power generation stations at Kangaroo Valley, which comprise part of the Shoalhaven Scheme.

The Water Management Licence issued to Eraring Energy authorises the access to water and interchange of water between Lake Yarrunga, Bendeela Pondage and Fitzroy Falls Reservoir the purposes of power generation. The licence prescribes protocols for movement of water within the Shoalhaven Pump Storage Scheme to reduce the risk of transfer of blue-green algae between water storages and between the Shoalhaven-Hawkesbury Nepean catchments.
