Water for the environment

 98-00 IMEF State Report

The 1998-2000 IMEF State Report provides technical information on the study methods and the results and interpretation arising from investigations during the first two years of the IMEF program. This involved the collection of initial data for many of the studies being undertaken with enough data collected for some studies to allow an initial interpretation of the effects of the environmental flow rules on river and wetland environments. Some early results indicate that the health of vegetation, invertebrate and bird communities is related to the water regime in individual wetlands. The program is ongoing and will continue to report to the government and community on the effectiveness of environmental water provisions and this will feed back into water sharing plans.
